Administrative Procedures

As a result of the Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) rejecting a proposed deal from the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA), all FMPSD schools will be closed to students starting Monday, October 6, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached or strike action is otherwise averted. Additionally, all yellow school bus routes will be suspended for the duration of the strike.

In light of the ongoing strike, all extracurricular activities, including sports, clubs, and after-school programs, will be temporarily suspended.

As there is no definitive end date for the strike, FMPSD is unable to provide a timeline for when normal operations will resume. We will continue to provide timely updates as we receive them from the Ministry of Education and Child Care.

Background

The Principal is held accountable for the organization of the plan for instruction in their school.

Procedures

The Principal, in consultation with staff, shall develop a school plan which shall clearly outline the:
1. Organization of classes;
2. Organization of teacher assignments;
3. Course offerings of the school; and
4. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The function of assigning students to classes is the responsibility of the Principal, in consultation with all staff members affected at that instructional level. As much as possible, schools are to utilize heterogeneous groupings of students.
It is further recognized that there may be a desire to group students in different grades or different courses in the same class.
