The Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) is delighted to announce that Amy Lyn MacDonald has been appointed as the new Acting Principal of École McTavish Public High School. A dedicated educator with a passion for fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments, Amy Lyn brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the McTavish community to her new role.
Amy Lyn’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Francis Xavier University, followed by a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Master of Education from the University of Calgary. She started her career as a High School English teacher before transitioning into Special Education as a Classroom Support Teacher (CST), where she developed a strong foundation in supporting diverse student needs.
In 2020, Amy Lyn joined École McTavish as Vice Principal, later expanding her leadership experience at Division Office as Vice Principal of Inclusive Education. She then returned to McTavish, where she has spent the past several years contributing to the school’s success and growth.
Reflecting on her new role, Amy Lyn shared:
"Becoming Acting Principal at École McTavish is a special moment for me, and I am truly honoured to be a Marauder and serve this school community. My work has always been guided by a passion for creating a welcoming, caring, and inclusive environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and is supported to achieve their best. Building strong relationships with staff, students, and families has been at the heart of my approach, and I look forward to continuing this important work in my new role."
