Statement Regarding Ongoing Wildfire Season

Posted on: General News

(Fort McMurray, AB, April 22, 2024)  With wildfires currently affecting the Saprae Creek communities, FMPSD, FMCSD and École Boréale are actively monitoring the situation and adhering to the most reliable sources of information to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, parents, and staff. Alberta Wildfire remains at the forefront of wildfire operations, diligently working towards containing the fire that looms over our community.

We encourage all families and staff to stay informed using trusted resources for wildfire updates. For current information and daily updates on the status of the wildfires, the community is advised to visit the official Alberta Wildfire website at wildfire.alberta.ca and use the Alberta Wildfire App for real-time notifications.

Recognizing the unpredictability and potential dangers posed by the ongoing wildfire season, it is crucial for everyone to be prepared. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has outlined steps for wildfire preparedness on its website at Wildfire Preparedness - Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (rmwb.ca). These resources provide valuable guidance on safeguarding your homes and families during these challenging times.

We stand together with the Saprae Creek communities and all those affected by the wildfires. Through preparedness, awareness, and cooperation, we can uphold the safety and security of our community during these difficult times.
