(Fort McMurray, AB, January 20, 2022) New student registration for the 2022-2023 school year is now open at the Fort McMurray Public School Division (FMPSD) via fmpsdschools.ca/registration. All 16 schools are ready to welcome new students including our two alternative programs: Fort McMurray Christian School and Fort McMurray Islamic School as well as French Immersion. Current students will be contacted in March for demographic confirmation.
Home to the Early Learning Childhood Development Program (ECDP) to grade 12, FMPSD also boasts PEAK (Passion, Excellence, Attitude, Knowledge) athletic academy, Indigenous programming, Green Scene environmental education, mental health supports in all schools, plus before and after care in many elementary schools.
ECDP offers literacy-enriched play for all children born in 2018. Fort McMurray Public Schools provides Kindergarten and ECDP programs in each of its elementary schools with an option for Reggio-inspired initiatives, where the environment is key in teaching students. In addition, many of our elementary schools have the Leader in Me program, which believes every student is a leader.
Last year FMPSD students received over a million dollars in international scholarships! A testament to the excellent initiatives at our Division despite the pandemic. Our students continuously receive coveted national, provincial and local Indigenous and community awards, and our staff give back to the region by volunteering for numerous social profits.
