“As a new Superintendent, I felt a reorganization was needed to build a strong leadership team and a succession plan for the future. Before Jennifer Turner (former Superintendent) left, the senior leadership created a transition plan,” explained Annalee Nutter, Superintendent, FMPSD.

“The transition has been ongoing all year long, and members have been strengthening their skills and knowledge for their roles. The reorganization will help our strong core leadership team, and continue to develop other leaders and plans for FMPSD’s future to ensure ongoing quality teaching and learning,” Superintendent Nutter added.

Barr was delighted with the news.

"I am excited for the new challenge as Director of Human Resources and Administration. For over 25 years, I have enjoyed working with the staff and students in the Division and feel the experience gained as a teacher and administrator for ECDP - Grade 12 schools, as well as my time as Acting Director of Education, lend well to supporting FMPSD in this new role. Being surrounded by a strong leadership team at the Division Office has allowed me to continue my growth as a leader and I look forward to that continued journey in this new position. I'm excited to work closely with all stakeholders both in the schools, and in the community, as we continue to grow while continuing to embrace Doing What's Best for Kids."

Shelley has been with FMPSD for 21 years, and shared her thoughts.

“As the acting Director of Education for FMPSD for the past several months, I have been honoured to serve students, families and staff. Over my 21-year career with the Division, I have had the privilege to fulfill various roles including: Teacher, Counsellor, Vice Principal and Principal. These multiple perspectives have allowed me the opportunity to work with students with diverse needs and backgrounds and I am elated to continue to work with all stakeholders as I transition into the Director of Inclusive Education. I am tremendously mindful of the essential work that we must continue to do to maintain a highly responsive and dynamic Division. I am proud to be on the Fort McMurray Public Schools team, a jurisdiction that values its families, staff and community as we partner to create meaningful learning opportunities for all students,” noted Shelley.

Jen Quigley, who joined FMPSD in August 2020 said, “I look forward to continuing to serve and support FMPSD students, staff and parents, and the wider community of Wood Buffalo.”

Congratulations Scott, Cynthia and Jen.
