New Principal at Fort McMurray Christian School

Posted on: News Release

Congratulations are in order for Geoffrey (Geoff) Bishop, the new principal at Fort McMurray Christian School, effective August 18, 2022, the start of the new academic year.  Mr. Bishop has been with FMPSD since 2019. Prior to that, Mr. Bishop worked back east in Nova Scotia and was a teacher and Vice Principal as far away as Cairo, Egypt, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.

“Geoffrey has demonstrated consistently in his short time with the Division that he is committed to supporting all students to achieve success.  He works hard to develop relationships with all stakeholders, is supportive of those around him and embraces the school culture he is a part of.  We look forward to seeing Geoff lead staff, students and parents in our Christian program!” stated Superintendent Nutter.

Mr. Bishop was delighted with the news.

"I am excited to work alongside the students, staff, and families of the Fort McMurray Christian School. Over my career as an educator and administrator, I have had the privilege to work alongside students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, which I believe will lend well to this new position as the FMCS principal. With the help of our dynamic public school board and FMCS stakeholders, we will strive as a Christian faith school to be the salt and light to all in our Fort McMurray community and beyond. I am looking forward to working alongside the dedicated and faithful staff as we move forward together in making FMCS a place where all are welcome to learn about and experience God's providence."

Congratulations to Geoff.
