Special Presentation to Tzu Chi Foundation

The Board welcomed back Tzu Chi Foundation from Vancouver. The Buddhist international relief foundation  donated over $373,000 to FMPSD post wildfires last year - the biggest donation amount ever in our history.

Mr. Gary Ho, CEO, Tzu Chi Foundation (photo below) was on hand to receive an FMPSD memento of appreciation from Linda Mywaart, Board Chair.

“It is an honour to present this memento from Fort McMurray Public School District to the Tzu Chi Foundation,” said Chair Mywaart.

“Your incredible generosity has meant so much to us. And, like this collage, our schools have come together to embrace Leader in Me - an incredible program, which believes every student is a leader, now flourishing in seven additional schools - because of you.”

Dave McNeilly Public School - Leader in Me Presentation

Student leaders presented on the many tasks they perform, thanks to the Leader in Me program. They enjoy being Public Speaking Leaders, Announcement Leaders, Library Leaders, and Birthday Card Leaders, to name a few.

Thickwood Heights School Willy Wonka Jr. Performance

A group of 12 students performed scenes from Willy Wonka Jr., the school’s annual musical this year. It opened to rave reviews this spring. The plays are put together by Thickwood Theatriks, Thickwood’s student company assisted by staff.
